A ranking policeman who rushed to the help of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a blade-wielder received the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a blade to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver after a traffic accident in the area in July 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.

"Policeman attacked," the officer could be heard saying over his communication device.

Officer-mounted and dashboard camera footage made public by the agency showed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood covering head, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.

He ran into the policeman who lost balance and dropped to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the ground even though being repeatedly struck with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and waited for a open target, ending the fight to an finish.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get help on my neck now, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell received multiple lacerations to his neck and more cuts to his arms and torso, while Sergeant Foster received cut injuries.

Authorities said Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stem his partner's hemorrhaging before paramedics reached the scene.

The new honor follows subsequent to the law enforcement team were granted departmental Courage Honors in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the regional union branch in spring 2024.

They additionally received a Regional Bravery Award in July 2024.
