British Military Bases to Host Refugee Applicants in Bid to End Hotel-Based Use
Several hundred asylum seekers might be accommodated in armed forces facilities as the authorities aims to phase out the use of hotels.
Negotiations are in progress regarding the conversion of two facilities - a facility in Scotland and a second in the south of England - for shelter for nine hundred males.
The government leader has directed Interior Ministry and Defense Department officials to speed up work to find proper defense facilities.
The ruling party has committed to end the operation of refugee hotels, which have consumed billions in funds and emerged as a focal point for anti-asylum seeker rallies.
Under Consideration Military Locations
Migrants might be placed in the Cameron Barracks in Inverness and Crowborough army training camp in East Sussex by the conclusion of the coming month.
Commercial facilities, short-term shelter and otherwise disused accommodation are also being examined for possible utilization.
Administration Commitments
Administration officials confirmed that all sites would meet safety regulations.
"Our administration is deeply troubled at the scale of illegal migrants and temporary hotel accommodations."
"Our administration will terminate every asylum hotel. Work are progressing effectively, with more suitable sites being brought forward to ease pressure on communities and cut migrant housing expenditures."
Present Shelter Figures
Around thirty-two thousand refugee applicants are presently being accommodated in hotel facilities, representing a decrease from a peak of over fifty-six thousand in last year.
A newly released analysis found that multiple billions of government revenue had been "misused" on migrant shelter.
Prior Defense Facility Operation
Two ex-armed forces locations - MDP Wethersfield in Essex and Napier Barracks in Kent - are currently being used to house asylum seekers after being opened under the former leadership.
The administration head commented on the circumstances, stating: "The government is committed to shut down every refugee hotel. Words cannot describe how troubled and alarmed I am that we face a challenge as substantial as this by the last government."
