The inquest heard how his mother got a communication on 8 November 2021 via social media, from a individual asking if her son was her child. The message stated: "Inform him appreciation for breaking into my apartment."

In a statement presented to the court, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the news, claiming her infant's remains had been taken in a break-in - a claim which was false.

Police Inquiry

An official inquiry from authorities later concluded the supposed burglary complainant had "provided false information" and "it now appears that said items was never stolen in the beginning".

Media reports about the supposed taken ashes generated social media responses, and although Kai was not named in the messages, his parent said individuals "understood it was him".

The "online posts were extremely upsetting", she said.

She added that her son had been diagnosed with moderate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' opinions genuinely mattered to him.

"It would have affected him severely," she said, "especially when this was not true".

Kai was detained at his residence, but nothing was found. He was transported to a police station and later freed under investigation.

Authorities said they would be in contact, the hearing learned, but had failed to reached out to the family by the time of his passing.

Isolation and Worry

His mother said her son "became isolated" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had received anything from the police", because his ADHD meant sometimes "certain periods could feel like much longer".

When she talked to him about the alleged burglary, she said her child informed her he had gone into the residence because the woman who lived there had said he could utilize the bathroom anytime he wanted, but refuted removing anything.

Digital Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, the mother said her son was being bullied digitally after the accusations.

The proceedings learned that a 19-year-old encouraged the teenager to kill himself.

She had no concerns on the night before he passed away, explaining how she had heard him "laughing and teasing".

She described him as a "compassionate, affectionate" young man, and said her "family is totally devastated".

He had been "clearly concealing his worries", she stated, adding that he could not stand to have anybody "have negative thoughts of him".

School Reaction

The inquest heard from educational personnel at Connah's Quay secondary school.

On 8 November, she "overheard some boys discussing that Kai had been arrested and that was the first I learned".

"He told me... he'd done nothing wrong," she added.

After the discussion, the staff member said she called Kai's family landline and provided a message saying she had communicated to Kai about the accusations.

The proceedings learned his parents said they never got that message.

Providing a narrative conclusion, he stated: "Approximately November 8th, 2021, unsupported allegations were made against the teenager, a young child.
